From the classroom in Watts to the halls of the Capitol, she’s led with heart, vision, and bold, people-powered policies.

A lifelong Santa Ana resident and daughter of immigrants, Jessie has been a fearless champion for working families on the Santa Ana City Council—leading on affordable housing, environmental justice, and immigrant rights. With lived experience navigating housing insecurity and economic hardship, Jessie brings heart, grit, and unwavering commitment to the fight for a California where everyone can thrive.

Jackie Elward is a community leader, educator, labor organizer, and proud immigrant who has dedicated her life to fighting for working families. In 2020, Jackie made history as the first Black woman elected to the Rohnert Park Council. In her time as Councilmember and later as Mayor, Jackie championed affordable housing, expanded services for the unhoused, and led public investments in transportation and clean energy.

Michael Tubbs is a visionary leader, educator, and public servant whose life story reflects the promise of California. Rising from poverty in South Stockton to become the city’s youngest mayor, Michael is living proof that young people can lead and deliver real results. As mayor, he championed economic opportunity, launched the nation’s first mayor-led guaranteed income initiative, expanded access to education, advanced a bold green economy, and helped drive down unemployment and violent crime.
